6. Smiley Face Cookie Co.

Though discontinued, the Smiley Face Cookie Co. program is one of Waigand Wheels’ most cherished legacies. Beginning in 2018, Wagoneers supported cookie decorating jobs for adults with developmental disabilities in partnership with McArthur’s Bakery. They helped collect, organize, and deliver smiley-face cookies across the region, and in 2023 the program expanded to all 77 Schnucks locations in Missouri and Illinois.

For Wagoneers, the program provided opportunities to develop skills in inventory management, packaging, and delivery, while also learning the joy of customer interaction. More importantly, they experienced the power of spreading happiness—seeing firsthand how a simple cookie could brighten someone’s day.

For the community, Smiley Face Cookies became more than a sweet treat. They became a symbol of inclusion, joy, and purpose—a reminder that everyone has something meaningful to share. Although the program has ended, its spirit lives on in the pride, confidence, and memories it gave to Wagoneers, and in the countless smiles it left behind.
